Stretch marks do not cause any harm, other than to the sufferer’s body confidence. That said, it can be notoriously difficult to eradicate them completely. There are quite a few products on the market that claim to erase stretch marks but only help diminish them with varying efficacy. Consequently, reviews on these creams, serums and lotions can prove very helpful. We hope that will be the case with our review today of a product called Bella Joi Stretch Mark Cream.
If you’ve been through a few pregnancies, gained and lost weight or been through growth spurts, you may have stretch marks. This is because as skin expands it loses its elasticity. Collagen is also lost with age, and due to fluctuating hormones. It is collagen that keeps skin firm, youthful and supple.
Bella Joi claims that its formulation consists of the ‘best’ antioxidants, oils and natural ingredients, so let’s examine the ingredients.
What’s in Bella Joi Stretch Mark Cream?
- Cocoa Butter
- Shea Butter
- Mango Butter
- Olive Oil
- Aloe Leaf Juice
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
- Jojoba Oil
- Rose Hip Oil
- Deionized Water
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
- Glycerin
- Glyceryl Stearate
- Stearic Acid
- Cetyl Alcohol
- Olive Oil
- Grapefruit Seed
- Tocopheryl Acetate
- Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate
- Potassium Sorbate
- Panthenol
- Disodium EDTA
- Orange Oil
- Sodium Hydroxide
On the anti-inflammatory front, aloe leaf juice and mango butter both have powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties (as does shea). Aloe is also a potent soothing agent. As the cocoa butter contains collagen, it would help smooth out the lines along with the aloe. Olive oil contains the fatty acids needed to feed sebaceous glands and help skin rejuvenate. It is a good inclusion.
Now let’s turn our attention to the rest of the oils. An interesting inclusion in the ingredients mix is Orange Oil. It contains Vitamin C, which fights free radicals, or the toxins which age cells.Jojoba and Rose Hip Oil also have immense healing properties. However, so do peppermint and almond oil, although they have not been included. Caprylic is a moisturizer which is easily absorbed by the skin and doesn’t leave greasy spots.
The formula is gentle and would certainly help to rejuvenate skin all round. We do feel though that more concentrated or additional forms of Vitamin C and E could have been included. Mostly we feel the formula would have been better with medical-grade silicone. This is a wonder product that seals in the top layer of the epidermis so that healing takes place below unhindered. This is why it is so popularly used in post-plastic surgery procedures.
How Do You Use Bella Joi Stretch Mark Cream?
Apply the cream to the affected areas lightly, twice a day. You are likely to need it more on the buttocks, thighs, stomach, hips and breasts. It is safe for pregnant ladies and breastfeeding moms, but as a mild precaution we suggest not using the cream on the nipple area before a feed. Bella Joi contains no parabens, artificial fragrance or synthetic coloring.
The Cost
Bulk orders are clearly available on the product website, but it doesn’t specify for how much – or how much a single tube costs for that matter. Previously, the cream was available for $19.99 on Amazon. It was retailing on Amazon at the time of compiling this review.
Is There a Guarantee?
During the course of our research, we did not uncover a product guarantee.
The Conclusion of Our Bella Joi Review
We like the mildness and safety of the product. It is packed with enriched and nourishing oils and butters. Because it is non-greasy, it is great for busy individuals. The product is more likely to work for new marks than older ones, which require deeper, targeted sub-epidermal nourishment and repair.
Based on our research, we do not think this product to be as effective as Vitamin-E enriched products, or those containing retinol and medical-strength silicone. The product does not rank highly in its category on Amazon, and simply is not readily available. The lack of transparency as to price on the website and absence of a guarantee means we are not able to confidently recommend this product.
